The Golden Apple Awards

The Golden Apple Awards offers schools in NYC recognition for documenting their model school recycling programswaste prevention initiatives, orbeautification projects.

The Golden Apple Awards consists of three contests. In each contest, schools compete against other schools within their grade division (elementary, intermediate, or high school) for borough and citywide honors.

2010 GOLDEN APPLE AWARDS INFORMATION

  • 2010 deadline: Project Entry Binders must be received by 5pm Friday April 30, 2010.
  • Registered schools: see Contest Submission Information (pdf).
  • 2010 Prizes: Prizes change from year to year based on available funding; it is currently not expected that this year’s contests will issue cash awards. As before, winners will receive the following honors:
    • awards announced on our website and in press releases
    • award certificates (all entries receive Certificates of Participation)
    • binders are posted online as exemplary models to help other schools looking to do similar projects
    • gifts for the core group of students and staff who spearheaded the project
    • the NYC recycling character mascots are planning to attend Citywide Winners’ award ceremonies in June 2010 for photo ops with the kids!
